Navigation in GPS Denied Zones

TRAAK has developed expertise for navigation in GPS Denied Zones for Drones (UAV) and Robots with Basilik.

But what is navigation in GPS denied environments? It’s an innovative solution for UAVs and robots that have to navigate in environments where GPS signals are absent or jammed. These environments can include indoor or underground areas or areas subject to electronic jamming, such as those encountered during anti-drone operations.

TRAAK has developed technologies that enable mission continuity even when GPS is unavailable. The solution is based on a combination of different data sources and sensors, such as barometers, anemometers, accelerometers, gyroscopes and visual navigation systems. By integrating these various elements, we create a redundancy of positioning and navigation information, guaranteeing the accuracy and reliability of operations, even in the most restricted environments.

This approach is particularly useful for security and defence missions, where the ability to continue navigating without GPS is crucial. By coupling our technology with jamming resistance measures, we enable our customers to maintain high operational efficiency, even in the most complex situations.

Navigation in GPS denied environments: An approach adapted to the type of mission

Various measurement sources to create redundancy:

  • Physical: Barometer, anemometer, pitot probe
  • Inertial: Accelerometer, gyroscope, 9-axis magnetometer
  • RF: Multiple options are available, either to increase redundancy or to limit emissions from one of the sources: ground or vector.
  • Visual: Video navigation or positionning.

These solutions can be combined with enhanced jamming/flooding resistance on GNSS
